The church belongs to the oldest and most beautiful monuments of religious architecture in the Bieszczady Mountains. From 1974, the Roman Catholic church Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is a three-part structure with a log construction, each of three parts of which is crowned with a tent roof with a bend. The inscription cut in the lintel above the entrance to the temple says that it was erected in 1791. In 1939, Smolnik came under Soviet occupation, and after the war, within the borders of the USSR. In 1951 - as a result of border regulation - he returned to Poland, but without the residents who were resettled. After 1951, the land and village buildings were transferred to a state-owned farm. Gradually, all buildings were demolished, except for the temple, where hay was periodically stored. In 1956, the temple was placed on the list of historic churches, and in 1969 - it was entered in the register of monuments, which made it possible to carry out renovations from state funds in the years 1969–1970. During many years of unattended the temple was devastated many times. She gained new guardians only in 1973, when she was handed over to the Roman Catholic parish in Lutowiska. In 1974, she was consecrated to the affiliate church of the Latin rite. Of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Lutowiska parish. In the years 2004–2007, the parish carried out a thorough renovation of the temple, during which the foundation was raised and leveled, the shingle was replaced and the elements of the roof truss were repaired. In 2009, the polychromies inside the temple were renovated. Currently, the church is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
