The reserve with an area of 216.54 ha, was confirmed by the Ordinance of the Minister of Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry of November 12, 1996. It is located in the municipalities of Ustrzyki Dolne, Sołectwa Wojtkówka, on the grounds of the Bircza Forest District and Wojtkowa Forest District. The reserve protects the natural Carpathian beech forest growing on the slope, which is intersected by numerous streams. The beech community consists of old sycamore-beech-fir trees. There are numerous mountain species such as: heart-shaped lister, menstruation, swallowtail, Carpathian sedum, heart-shaped comfrey, hoof and primrose. Plant complexes are characterized by a high degree of naturalness, which gives the surface a forest character. The source is unique due to salty sources with a chemical composition similar to the values of the sources in Iwonicz and Rymanów.
