The synagogue building was erected and in the years 1626-1654 replaced the former synagogue. In 1838 its gables, roof and interior design were rebuilt. Devastated completely during World War II. After the war ended, the synagogue was abandoned for 10 years until the roof collapsed. Since then, a gradual renovation began in the years 1960-1963, then in the 70s and early 1980s. The synagogue building is made of river pebbles and hewn stones with the addition of brick. It was built on a rectangular plan in the mannerist-baroque style. It is the only example of a synagogue with church and palace gables in Poland. In the south-west side of the corner a tower was added, in which there are original rounded stairs leading to the former prison for Jews. The building consists of a single-nave main hall and a women's gallery. At the top of the external facade there are boards of the Decalogue with 10 commandments and the inscription: "What drug is this place filling up! Nothing else but the house of God and the gate of heaven" crowned with a triangular gable. The walls of the synagogue are divided by two cornices into three floors. Between the cornices are semicircular niches for Torah quotes.
