Sanok belongs to the oldest and largest cities of Podkarpacie. Picturesquely located on the San River, at the foot of the Słonne Mountains and Bukowski Foothills, at the intersection of important communication routes. Already in the tenth century there was a stronghold here. He was probably occupied by Lędzianie. Until the fourteenth century, it belonged to the Ruthenian princes and was the central center of the estate called the Sanok land.
