A wooden church built in 1830 or 1839 by the nearby carpenter Jan Hnatkowski from the foundation of Mikołaj Krajewski in the place of an earlier parish church from 1515. The temple belonged previously to the Greek Catholic parish in Żernica Wyżna. In 1902 it underwent a major renovation changing the structure. After 1947, the church was taken over by the Roman Catholic church. The structure of the church in Bereżnica Wyżna is an oriented temple, with a two-part structure, with a women's gallery built into the body. From the west there is a vestibule with a pillar structure. The gallery and the nave are of equal width. The presbytery is slightly narrower, set on a rectangular plan, the sacristy adjoins it from the north. Above the women's gallery, nave and presbytery is a hipped, single-ridge roof. Inside the church there is a large part of the iconostasis with icons from the nineteenth century, which was placed on the back wall of the presbytery. Until the 1970s, a fragment of a 17th-century iconostasis from the previous church was visible in the church. In front of the church there is a wooden two-story belfry with a pole structure. It was erected in 1830. The bell there is from 1868. The church cemetery, which is used until today, with the tombstones of local landowners.
