The village was founded in 1540 under Magdeburg law. In the second half Nineteenth century, as Maćkowa Wola belonged to Edmund Krainski, and in 1931 to the memoirist, Sanok nobleman, Roman Kraiński. At the end of July 1944, the UPA militia committed the first crimes against Poles in this town.
