A European watershed runs through the city with the Strwiąż River, which belongs to the Black Sea catchment area. From the north and east, the city is surrounded by the Słonne Mountains range with numerous reserves and natural monuments. Nearby there are excellent conditions for hiking and cycling with marked hiking trails. The area is also suitable for horse tourism, and the nearby Solina Lagoon, to which the Ustrzycki commune has access, creates excellent conditions for water sports and fishing. Despite the wars that caused major damage, many interesting historic buildings have been preserved throughout the city. A unique 18th-century monument is the Marian Sanctuary in Jasień, where the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Bieszczady was kept. The eclectic Roman Catholic church is historic. Mother of God Queen of Poland, in which there is a valuable icon brought from Bełz. The material traces of the influence of Eastern culture are, among others: the eighteenth-century wooden Orthodox church in Ustjanowa, used by Greek Catholic people, the stone church in the city center from 1874, the former church (now a branch church) in Strwiążek from 1831, the Greek Catholic cemetery (now part of the municipal cemetery), a beautiful 18th-century Boyko-style church in Równia. The testimony to the centuries-long presence of the Jewish community is the synagogue built around 1800 (now a library) and the cemetery. The city is the seat of the Bieszczady National Park Science and Didactic Center with the exemplary Bieszczady Nature Museum. The richness of this region is the unique history of this land with preserved rich sacred architecture and other monuments.
