The "Fallen in the fight for consolidation of people's power" monument in Cisna was built in honor and memory of those killed in the battles with the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, when on January 11, 1946 Cisna attacked a UPA unit, setting fire to the school and the commune office, then a court and 8 Polish farms . A family of four burned alive at that time, three pre-war policemen, brutally murdered. The UPA massacred their bodies, then threw them into the fire. Several members of the village guard were also killed, later turned into ORMO. Nine policemen and 15 members of the village guard defended the outpost. Mines played a major role in the defense, and the defenders detonated them using stretched wires. After 10 hours of fighting, the UPA withdrew from the siege and fled to the woods, taking 27 dead.
